Prayer of Dedication
*Communion As we gather at table this morning, may this bread and cup remind
us of Jesus’ table fellowship and of his healing relationship with us. May our
fellowship with one another and our care for one another become for us the real
presence of Jesus in our midst. (Everyone and anyone is welcome to this
table…God’s table. You don’t have to be a member of this church or any church to
share the bread and drink of the vine).
One: We remember that the night before Jesus would be betrayed and crucified, he
sat among his friends and took bread, blessed it, broke it, and said, “Take and eat,
for this is my body given for you. As often as you do it, do it in remembrance of me.”
After the supper had ended, Jesus took the cup, blessed it, and said, “Drink from it,
all of you, for this, is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for
the forgiveness of sins.” Whenever we share this bread and cup, my friends, we
remember the compassion and love Jesus taught and the call to follow Christ in all
we do.
After distribution:
One: Let us pray. Holy Creator, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus and all who
follow to bring love and justice to the world. May this bread and drink nourish us as
they symbolize Christ’s essence in all of us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Call to Worship from Psalm 37
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who
prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their refuge in the time of
trouble.
The Lord helps them and rescues them; he rescues them from the wicked, and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
Unison Prayer of Invocation
Lord, open our hearts and our minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as
the scriptures are read, as the hymns are sung, as our prayers are shared, and
as your Word is spoken that we may hear with joy what you say to us today.
Amen.
